Step 5.5: Outdoor showers and rinse stations (a Solana Beach favorite)
If you surf, beach-walk, or host friends with kids, an outdoor shower or rinse station can be a game-changer. The key is to design it like a “real” feature—not a temporary hose.
Ideas that work well:
- a simple wall-mounted shower with a hand sprayer
- a small bench or shelf for towels and products
- a drain strategy that keeps water away from foundations
- privacy screening (wood slats, landscaping, or partial walls)
- hooks for wetsuits and towels
Outdoor showers can be designed to feel upscale and minimal while still being practical. If you want the shower to stay clean-looking, choose easy-rinse surfaces and avoid too many ledges that collect sand.
