Phasing an exterior remodel (so you don’t redo work twice)
Exterior projects go smoother when sequenced correctly:
- Phase 1: inspection + repairs + water management (roofing, flashing, drainage)
- Phase 2: windows/doors (weatherproofing details and trim integration)
- Phase 3: finish layers (stucco/paint, exterior lighting, landscape touch-ups)
- Phase 4: outdoor living surfaces (decks, patios, railings)
This order prevents the classic mistake: finishing paint and trim, then opening walls or roofing later and having to patch the “new” work.
